The Firm has lawyers who practice concentrating in the areas of toxic tort litigation; environmental insurance litigation; water and transactions involving environmental issues. Our practice covers all major environmental statutes and programs and the Firm’s work includes compliance counseling; obtaining and negotiating permits and appealing unfavorable permit terms and conditions; business planning and transactions; assisting with business expansions and start-ups; facility cleanups, including risk-based experience; working closely with environmental consultants; administrative adjudication before federal and state agencies; and federal and state court litigation, both at the trial and appellate levels.

Environmental lawyers also work with the Firm’s business and real estate lawyers in connection with mergers and acquisitions or financing for environmentally impaired businesses or property. Not only must businesses be alert to the growing number of environmental laws and regulations affecting day-to-day operations, but firms that acquire assets through mergers or otherwise must know whether those assets – and the new business unit managing those assets – are subject to environmental liability. We counsel buyers and financial institutions on such matters as proper security interests, indemnities, and the ability of acquisition candidates to operate in compliance with environmental laws.
