
The Firm counsels clients on all facets of construction law, including bid submissions and disputes, contract negotiation
and documentation, contract disputes and enforcement, litigation, liens, business and tax planning, environmental issues,
OSHA and labor matters (including union contract negotiations, jurisdiction disputes, salting, pickets, and dual gates),
zoning, bonding, collection, and bankruptcy. The Firm represents its construction industry clients in arbitrations and
administrative proceedings as well as in all state and federal courts.
The Firm has experienced construction-law attorneys who are familiar not only with the substantive aspects of construction
law but also with other pertinent areas of the law which typically are not handled by construction-law attorneys. Our construction
law attorneys have been retained by owners, design professionals, contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers to represent
their interests in a wide variety of construction matters.
Our attorneys have extensive experience with the requirements to comply with Iowa mechanic's lien law for private projects
and the claims process for public projects.

The Firm offers the legal services necessary to take a parcel of land from initial purchase through the completion of the real
estate project. These services include rezoning and land-use planning; negotiation of financing; project development, including
platting, preparation of covenants and restrictions, easements and operating agreements; organization of owners' associations and
development of architectural standards; condominium organization; leasing, sale, or tax-free exchange of the completed project;
and any matters, including litigation, which may be encountered before, during, and after the completion of a project.
We render opinions for borrowers and lenders in connection with complex financing and other transactions involving real and
personal property, including leveraged leasing and sale/leasebacks. Our attorneys also practice in all aspects of enforcing the
rights of secured parties through foreclosure and the exercise of other remedies available under Iowa law. The Firm also has an
extensive leasing practice which includes the preparation and review of leases and their enforcement. The Firm frequently advises
clients with respect to lease disputes and has litigated major issues of landlord-tenant law in Iowa courts.
